Google Alerts is a great way of searching for new information just found by Google. There are many things that you can search for.

For example, choosing to be alerted for “win” or “contest” (like I do) will give you many links each day to new contests being posted online, increasing your chances of winning just one contest. Maybe you’ll even win your first contest this way.

Another example of the usage of Google Alerts I know of (but have no reason to do, and do not do) is to search for strings like “@adult-site.com” - new passes posted online for these adult sites will be sent directly to your Inbox everyday.

I’m sure you can think of better usages for Google Alerts. Maybe search for new books or new vulnerabilities in your favourite web application etc. That’s all for now, though. I’m back to participating in more competitions. ^^
